Letter To My Husband – Wedding Vows

Dear Jon,

Three years ago we were struggling through A&P, enjoying field trips and steak cookouts, shearing sheep and helping each other survive college all together. At that point, I would have been in disbelief if someone told me that this is where I would be today. You were my friend and my lab partner, but this was never in the plans…not our plans anyway. My mother actually asked me why I didn’t date the Jon that I was always telling her about, but I never gave it much thought until God showed us what these past three years were all about. God used our time at UTM to allow us to learn many things about one another. I learned many of your likes and dislikes, your strengths and weakness and how to handle all of that personality of yours.
It is amazing how one small Bible Study in my living room could completely change the way that we look at one another. Since then, you have taken my son in as your own and he adores you for that. You have been my best friend, my provider, and my rock. You are constantly lifting me up, making me laugh and showing your commitment and love in all of the things that you do each day. Your grace, selflessness, leadership and devotion mirror the love that Christ has for His bride and that alone gives me unshakable confidence in this marriage.
Ruth said this to her widowed mother-in-law Naomi, “Where you go I will go and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die and there I will be buried. May the Lord do so to me and more also if anything but death parts me from you.” Today, I promise you this same unconditional devotion until God calls us home. I love you, Jon, and I am so excited to be able to call you my husband.

Love Your Wife,
