My Greatest Prayer Is To Love My Wife Right!

My greatest prayer is to love her right…

I remember the first time I heard these words.
I was sitting in a friend of mine’s car. What we were talking about or where we were going I’m not entirely sure. But, you know those relationships you have in your life where you can be laughing and dancing in the car, acting like an idiot? Then, you’re having the most serious of life changing conversations at the drop of a hat? This was one of those moments.
My friend showed me a spoken word video by Brent Rice called “Crucifixion Type Love”. The truth spoken in this short video rocked my world. I was having issues (to say the least) in my marriage and this video slapped me right in the face.
We’ve heard the scripture,

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her.” Ephesians 5:25

If you’re anything like I was, you think you’re already doing a pretty decent job at it.. Nah! (Said like Si Robertson- if you don’t know who he is… you should!) But we husbands have a lot of work to do!
There are so many different and strong points to this video. I don’t want to say too much more about it at this point. I will (hopefully) be breaking it down to study in depth one part at a time.
Since the first time I watched this video, it has been part of my morning devotional and has shaped the way that I look at my wife. I am seeing who she is not only to me, but also to God.
No matter how many times I listen to the words, they still rock me to my core. I still wipe tears from my eyes. Every time.
If we can apply these “simple steps” to our marriage and learn to stop wasting time majoring on the minors and truly begin to treasure the woman God has blessed us with… Then, I guarantee we will see the change in our marriage that we want to see and we’ll be blown away by what our marriages blossom into!

I want the kind of love that makes God get up and dance around His throne every time He looks at us.
