Marriage After God — Smith Family Resources, Inc.
Effective date: August 7, 2026 · Version: 3.1

The short version

We are a small family-run Christian marriage ministry and publisher. We collect the information we need to send you prayer emails and our podcast, fulfill your book orders, run our ministry, and tell other couples about our resources. We do not sell your personal information for money. We do use advertising and analytics tools that share limited information with companies like Meta, Google, and TikTok — under several state privacy laws that counts as "selling" or "sharing," and you can opt out at any time.

Sensitive information and religious belief

Marriage After God is an explicitly Christian ministry. If you subscribe to our prayer emails, buy our devotionals, join our Patron Team, or download our podcast, that fact may reveal or imply something about your religious beliefs. Under GDPR, religious belief is a "special category" of personal data. Under several U.S. state privacy laws — including Oregon's — it is "sensitive data." Some of our books also concern family, parenting, and marital intimacy, and your interest may imply information about your family situation.

How we handle it:

  • We collect it only because you chose to engage with a Christian ministry. We do not ask you to state your religion and do not require it.
  • We do not sell it, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not build or upload audiences labeled or segmented by religious belief, and we do not use religious inference to target advertising.
  • We do not use it to make decisions about you producing legal or similarly significant effects, and we do not use it for profiling of that kind.
  • We do not disclose it except to the service providers listed here who need it to deliver the email, ship the book, or process the payment you asked for.
  • Where the law requires consent, your consent is your voluntary act of subscribing, purchasing, or enrolling — and you may withdraw it at any time.
  • In the EU, UK, and Switzerland, we rely on explicit consent, or on the exemption for a not-for-profit body with a religious aim in respect of its members and regular contacts, as applicable.

If you would rather we not hold this information at all, unsubscribe and ask us to delete your record. We will honor that.

Cookies, pixels, and tracking technologies

Categories we use

  • Strictly necessary — session management, cart, checkout, login, security, bot protection, load balancing. Cannot be switched off through our consent tool.
  • Functional — remember preferences, consent choices, region, previously entered form data.
  • Analytics and performance — Google Analytics 4, plus store and site analytics.
  • Advertising and targeting — Meta pixel, Google Ads tags, TikTok pixel.

Managing cookies

  • Our consent tool — a banner appears on first visit; reopen it any time from the Cookie Settings link in the site footer
  • Your browser — most browsers allow blocking or deleting cookies; blocking all may break parts of the store
  • Ad platform controls — Google Ad Settings, Meta ad preferences, TikTok app settings
  • Industry opt-outs — DAA (optout.aboutads.info), NAI (optout.networkadvertising.org), Your Online Choices (EU)
  • Mobile — "Limit Ad Tracking" (iOS), "Opt out of Ads Personalization" (Android)

Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track

We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC). A GPC signal is treated as a request to opt out of sale, sharing, and targeted advertising for that browser and device, and is applied to your account if you are logged in. There is still no common industry standard for "Do Not Track," so we do not respond to DNT separately. GPC is the signal we honor.

We may also disclose personal information to comply with the law, to protect rights and safety, in a business transaction (with notice of any material change), and with your direction or consent.

We do not disclose your personal information to unrelated third parties for their own independent marketing.

"Selling" and "sharing" your information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We never have.

However, several state privacy laws define "sale" broadly to include disclosure for other valuable consideration, and define "sharing"/"targeted advertising" to include disclosure for cross-context behavioral advertising. Because we use advertising cookies and pixels from Meta, Google, TikTok, and Amazon, our use of those tools may qualify as a "sale" or "share" under those laws. We say so plainly rather than hiding behind the technicality.

What may be disclosed this way: online identifiers, cookie and device identifiers, IP address, approximate location, browsing and purchase activity on our sites, hashed email addresses used to match customer audiences.

What is never disclosed this way: your name and mailing address, payment information, message and prayer request content, and any information used to infer religious belief.

We do not sell or share the personal information of anyone we know to be under 16.

Email and mail

Email. Subscribing means consenting to recurring emails from Marriage After God and our related ministry brands — daily prayer emails, devotional content, podcast announcements, ministry updates, and promotional messages. Unsubscribe any time via the link in any email or by emailing support@marriageaftergod.com. Even after unsubscribing from marketing, we still send transactional messages — order confirmations, shipping notices, payment receipts, Patron billing notices, and material changes to our terms.

Postal mail. We may occasionally send catalogs, samples, or ministry mailings. Email us to opt out.

Your privacy rights

Limits. We may decline part of a request where the law allows or requires — for example where we must keep transaction records for tax and accounting, where deletion would interfere with an active order or legal claim, where we cannot verify identity, or where a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive.
