Love Never Fails
The only love I have ever encountered that has never failed me is the love of God. His love is pure, His love is truth, His love redeems, His love is transforming, His love is perfect! 1 John 4 tells us that God is love.
God is love.
“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.” – 1 John 4:7-12

“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” 1 John 4:18
God’s love is perfect and it casts out fear. This always resonates in my heart because I am weak when it comes to fear. I struggle with fear and worry on a daily basis. However, when I lean on God, when I read His Word or when seek prayer, God consumes me with His love and the fear that tried crippling me dissipates.
1 John 4 also mentions that loving others and knowing God go hand in hand, because God is love. So when you love your husband, you are expressing to Him the very heart of God! To love your husband with perfect love, you must know God.
Please take a moment to read the scriptures we have been studying on love, 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, and anytime you come to the word “love” replace it with “God” and “it” with “He” – this will help you get to know God better. Below I have substituted the two words for you.
God is patient, God is kind. He does not envy, He does not boast, He is not proud. He does not dishonor others, He is not self-seeking, He is not easily angered, He keeps no record of wrongs. God does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. He always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. God never fails.
God is love. If you desire to truly love your husband in a way that is perfect and complete, continue to know God. Seek God daily and allow His love to transform your heart. This will strengthen your understanding of love and your capacity to love in an extraordinary way.
Love never fails.
In marriage a husband and wife are faced with many moments that put their love to the test. There will be times that they fall short of expectations, hurt each other and fail each other. However, a marriage rooted in God’s love has the power to motivate a husband and wife to endure together, to reconcile and to move forward in their marriage, regardless of their faults and failures. A marriage woven together with God’s love remains strong no matter what circumstances are faced. Strive to love your husband with God’s love.
“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:16-19

Memorize 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 and continue to pursue an intimate relationship with God where you will grow to know Him better, leading you to love better! Like God showed His love by sacrificing His Son, what is one thing you can sacrifice to show your husband your love for him?

Dear Lord,
Thank you so much for this marriage series! Thank you for giving me a deeper understanding of what it means to love my husband. I pray that I would be transformed. Please fill my heart with your love and help me to grow in the areas I am weakest. Thank you for never failing me. Thank you for your perfect love. I pray that I would be able to love others like you, I pray that I would be intentional about it. May your love transform me in the woman and the wife you created me to be! I also thank you for showing your love through the sacrifice of your Son. I pray that I would never take you for granted or lessen the value of the Cross. Help me to understand the depth of how sacrifice reveals love, true love. May your love pour out of my heart and bless all the lives around me in Jesus name AMEN!
