Oh what a year!
Almost 12 months ago I was headed to the hospital, cramping with contractions, eager to meet my baby, in awe of how life is recreated, and completely unaware just how much my life was about to change. This season of adjusting to motherhood has been very interesting, very beautiful, and very challenging – so many moments and emotional markers that have left imprints on my heart.
I can’t tell you how many times I have laid next to my baby and prayed for him. I ask God to teach me and husband how to be good parents for him, I ask God to help us raise him according to His ways, and I pray that he grows up to be like God’s Son!
I want him to have a loving, kind and compassionate heart, just like Jesus.
In answering my prayers, God has showed me many ways my husband and I can teach and train our son to develop a character like Christ including some of the following:
- Leading by example through actions and speech.
- Reading God’s Word out loud.
- Praying together as a family.
- Caring for others.
As we set an example in life for our son, to love like Jesus, he will know who Christ is. We continue to pray faithfully that the knowledge of Him will lead to an intimate relationship where Eliott will abide in Christ. And I am so incredibly thankful that my son has a father who lives out his faith every day with passion and consistency. Parenting is a challenging journey and neither of us take our role in Eliott’s life lightly. As much as I am blessed to have a God-fearing husband to help me parent, I am also blessed to have access to amazing Christian Resources.
