Get A Pen And Write This Down

I am passionate about the art, technique, and gift of writing. I think it is incredible that we have the capacity to consider a thought and then use our hands to write it out onto a piece of paper.

Typing words is just as amazing. Yet, there is something special about the raw, tangible feeling of a pen and paper.

Writing helps us to slow down in our thought process because writing takes time. Each letter, each sentence, created and formed inside of us, impressed and established by us. As we slow down to consider how to craft what it is we want to express, we have room to think all the more. We have time to contemplate and wrestle with understanding about whatever it is we are writing about. Sometimes we gain understanding of a situation, sometimes we see something from a different perspective, sometimes we realize something new about a person, or about ourselves that we never considered before.

Writing can be a trigger for us, that motivates us and makes us feel accomplished…like the joy of a simple to-do list.

Writing can inspire us, going from words on a page to doodles of art.

Writing can turn a story into a book, a teaching into a devotional, or a heart full of love into a letter someone will cherish forever.

Writing can transform our hearts as we impress God’s Word onto journal pages or post-its that are bright reminders of who we are and how much we are valued and loved.

I want to encourage you to grab a pen and write this down:

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” – Isaiah 41:10

Here are a few more writing prompts if you need some inspiration. These are just for you. There are no wrong or right answers. This is a simple activity to help you write.
