Knowing God Helps Me To Be A Loving Wife

“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.  Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” – 1 John 4:7-8

Do you KNOW God?

God is love and if we know God – interacting with Him on a daily basis in an intimate way – than we will love! It is very important that we understand that knowing OF God and knowing God are very, very different. For Jesus says,

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’” – Matthew 7:21-23

Jesus wants more from you than memorizing scriptures and routinely praying.  He does want consistency, but more so He wants your heart.  He wants you to tell Him when you are hurting, what stress you may be dealing with, how you are doing in life and what you are thankful for:)  He also wants you to put into practice what you memorize in scripture.  Just hearing it or reading it is not enough!  We need to apply Jesus’ teachings to our life!

“We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands. Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.” – 1 John 2: 3-6

So let me ask you again…Do you KNOW God?

The other question is… Are you LOVING your husband?

If you know God, then His love is made complete IN you!  KNOW GOD and that perfect love should overflow to your husband!
