Why We Decided To Take A Family “Babymoon” To Maui

My family and I just got back from the most beautiful vacation in Maui. After all the personal transitions we have experienced this last year and to celebrate with a family babymoon before Baby Wyatt joins us in November, we thought it would be fun to explore Maui with our other two little birds.babymoon

Babymoons have been on the rise the last few years. As a special way to celebrate life before it dramatically changes with another life coming into the world, people go on a “babymoon” somewhere fun and relaxing to soak up what life is like before it changes. We didn’t feel the need to get away alone to celebrate our 3rd child joining us. Instead we desired to bring our kids and let it serve as a memorable time for them before their life changes with the addition of a sibling.

Aaron and I have been working hard this last year with the handful of resources we have produced including 31 Prayers For My Wife, Husband After God and our latest new book bundle for single and engaged people: 31 Prayers For My Future Husband & Future Wife!

We really wanted this family time be intentional time to focus on our kids, play with them and take a breath of fresh air away from the demands of work. Although we still managed our social media while we were away, it was a huge blessing to unplug for hours at a time to give our kids some extra special attention.805b0684

As we prepared for our family vacation, my husband and I poured a ton of intentional thought into the itinerary. When we were planning our trip we knew we wanted to stay at a place that would be fun for our young kids. We wrestled with staying at a house rental through a site like AirBNB or a hotel/resort. These two types of accommodations are very different, so we had to really consider their benefits. After we talked through the pros and cons, we decided that for this adventure a resort was the best option.

I urge you and your husband to clearly communicate your desires for your next family vacation and write out the pros and cons of what type of stay would suit each of your needs best! This process really helped us navigate our decision.

Some of our needs:

I am pregnant and need an easy and comfortable place to stay.

Our kids are little and need a safe place to stay.

We desired quick and easy beach access.

We wanted something very kid friendly.

We wanted to be able to relax.

A friend of mine recommended The Hyatt Resort & Spa in Kaanapali. Further research convinced us that this would be an epic spot to spend our week in Maui. The Hyatt sits on 40 acres with lush tropical landscape and amazing beach front property. They have all kinds of animals for the kids to get excited about including parrots, flamingos, swans, fish and penguins.

This is a shot of the beach access from the Hyatt. We knew we wanted to stay here.

I got connected with a Hyatt representative who helped us work out an awesome deal for our stay! We are super grateful for the Hyatt accommodating us. I would personally recommend any family interested in a vacation to Maui to book with The Hyatt if you want to visit Maui and have a great time.

I can’t explain how perfect the pool set-up was. There was a main swimming pool that flowed into a cavern – that included a bar area – and flowed out to a kids splash pad area. We loved floating all around, going under waterfalls and through the cave.

We spent hours in the pool. In fact, our 3-year-old son learned how to hold his breath and swim while we were there! We are so proud of him, but he is even more proud of himself! He hasn’t stopped talking about our pool adventures since being back home.

The other fun thing about the Hyatt in Maui is that they host the Drums of the Pacific Luau on their property! There was an amazing buffet, beautiful dancers and fire twirling! While we were there another wife in our community happened to be there and stopped me for a visit! I couldn’t help but make her go live on Facebook with me! You can watch our video below along with some photos of the luau we took!
