Reading Scripture Together

This prayer is adapted from the Daily Marriage Prayer podcast

Dear Lord,

Please help us keep You at the center of our marriage, and make reading Your Word and praying together a habit we refuse to break. We desire to grow closer to You and closer to each other in this way. May You be glorified as we read Scripture together.

In Jesus’ name, AMEN!

REAL MEMBER TESTIMONY: The $4,200 Medical Bill That Changed How We Think About Christian Community

The emergency room visit happened on a Tuesday night.

Our eight-year-old son had been complaining about stomach pain all day, but by dinner, he was doubled over in tears. We rushed him to the nearest ER, praying the entire way.

Four hours later—after tests, X-rays, and thankfully just a severe case of constipation that needed medical intervention—we walked out relieved but dreading what would come next.

The bill: $4,200.

Even with our insurance at the time, we were facing a $2,800 out-of-pocket burden. I remember staring at that statement thinking, “There has to be a better way for Christian families to handle healthcare.”

That search led us to discover Samaritan Ministries — and honestly, we wish we’d known about it sooner.

Samaritan recently launched REDEEM HealthShare Ministry, and here’s what we love about it:

  • Real freedom of choice: No network restrictions—choose any doctor, specialist, or hospital based on what’s best for your family, not what some insurance company dictates
  • Exclusive Add-on Options: Includes sharing for expenses like dental, vision, and preventative care (something we were paying extra for elsewhere)
  • Digital simplicity: Medical expense sharing requests are handled through a streamlined online platform—no more paperwork nightmares
• Flexible programs: Different sharing options to fit your family’s specific needs and budget

But what really sold us was the foundation is the same as Samaritan’s: Christians genuinely caring for one another’s medical burdens, just like the early church did.

When healthcare costs are shared among believers who pray for each other by name, medical expenses transform from financial stress into opportunities for Christian community.

That $4,200 ER visit? As a member of REDEEM, it would have been shared by fellow members across the country—believers who would have actually prayed for our son’s healing.

That’s healthcare the way God intended it.
