Lean On God First, Then Your Husband {Proverbs 3:5-6 }

Almost every day of my marriage, I have been confronted with a choice…to lean on God or to lean on my own understanding, to lean on my husband, to lean on the wisdom of the world.Godfirst

There are many things in this life that seem like it would be helpful. In my pride I even believe that I know how things should be handled, the best way, the right way. Yet, God’s Word commands us not to do this, but rather to trust God and lean on Him!

Many times I have sought wisdom, counsel, and prayer from my husband…and my husband’s response is,

Have you prayed about it?

I love my husband and I appreciate that he leads me back to God. We should not be quick to seek to be fulfilled in others, but we should trust in God. Why? Because He will make our paths straight. He will provide. He will supply. He will protect.

This is one of my all-time favorite passages in the Bible. Proverbs 3:5-6 says,

Trust in the LORD with all your heart

And do not lean on your own understanding.

In all your ways acknowledge Him,

And He will make your paths straight.”

It is a great passage of scripture to meditate on and memorize!  As a wife it seems easier for me at times to trust in my husband and lean on his understanding instead of  leaning on God, but it is so important that I know how to trust the Lord and lean on Him FIRST and ALWAYS!

I suppose part of the reason why it may seem easier is because my husband usually responds right away. But, what if God does too…what if I’m just not taking the time to listen?

I desire to be a wife who acknowledges God every single day. I pray I would lean on Him!
