MARRIAGE AFTER GOD

Love Always Trusts – What Is Love? – Part 12

Love Always Trusts

Why is trust such an easy concept, but such a hard lesson to learn?

As I remember my past relationships, I always stuck my nose into information I didn’t really want to find out. The detective inside of me always felt as though there was some mystery to uncover. Another girl, another hobby, another lie, another secret…whatever the case, I needed to get to the bottom of it. Then, God sent me my husband.  As I learned more about him and we started a serious relationship, I didn’t have that longing to get the dirt on him. He proved to me time and time again that I didn’t need to have that unsettling feeling I had in many relationships before. He made my trust issues melt away with every day spent together. That’s when I learned that love is a two way street. True love means that I should never be put into a situation that makes me question my trust.

Are you in a relationship you cannot trust? Do you feel as though you need to check the computer history, voicemail, text messages, and emails of your spouse? If yes, I want you to think of the last time you truly trusted your other half. What changed that? Does your spouse know how you feel?

In my past relationships, something gave me that twinge of distrust and I either got caught snooping, or questioned the dirt I found while digging. Let me tell you, that is not a way to live day to day, because then you become someone your spouse cannot trust.  They are going to start believing you are meddling in every part of their life.

If there is not trust, there cannot be love.

Love ALWAYS trusts.

No matter if you are dating, exclusive, engaged, or married…seek God first no matter your trials! Just as David went to his hiding place before facing the Philistines, we must search God’s will for the battles we fight.

If you are in a struggling relationship, pray together. If your mate refuses, pray for them by yourself. Send them written prayers on paper, in texts, or from emails. Let them know you are praying for them and the situations in your relationship until they feel comfortable praying with you.

If praying and heart to heart conversations still do not help completely and you are not married, then reevaluate the type of love you want in your life. Be honest with your mate and yourself. Unhappiness is not what God has in the cards for you.

If you are married, I challenge you with the same conversation and prayer together. If you still cannot get down to the main issues, find a local Christian counselor to walk you through your options of gaining trust.  Keep praying and God will show you the path He wants you to take.

Trust is a hard thing to get back in a relationship. No matter who/what is the culprit; it will take both parties to mend the brokenness.  I made a recipe that I want to share with you to make trust a more tangible idea.

Remember, you are worth more than a broken, questioning, and unsure relationship. Seek God and His word first and your trials will become triumphs.

Prayer:

Dear Lord,

Thank you for showing me the importance of trust in my marriage. I realize I need to trust my husband more and to be vulnerable know that by doing so will cultivate intimacy. Please help me to have confidence in him and his abilities. I also pray that my husband would trust me. Help us to be intentional to build trust with each other daily. I also pray that I would trust you more! You are the only one who has the ability to fulfill me completely, so I should be able to trust you. Please help me. Help me to be confident and faithful in you! I lift my marriage up to you. If for some reason my husband and I have a difficult time rebuilding trust please show us why. We need trust, if we love, we need to trust in Jesus name AMEN!
